Channel & Island Fishing Expedition

Planning a Hinchinbrook Fishing Expedition with some friends? The Hinchinbrook region is one of the most popular areas for fishing in Australia. Here is a suggested itinerary for your trip. If you would like to book a vessel for this trip or your very own custom voyage then you can select a vessel here.

Day 1 Destination - Deluge Inlet
For your first days trip head across to the ancient fish traps at low tide at Scraggy Point. You can have a BBQ at National Park grounds and wet a line. In the afternoon cruise south to Deluge Inlet for the evening. Before you set anchor its well worth setting some crab pots in some of the tributaries for the night.

Day 2 Destination - Haycock Island
Fish the morning tides at Deluge Inlet before moving south to Haycock Island for the afternoon and anchor for the evening. Crabbing is also very good here.

Day 3 Destination - Garden Island
Head over to Hecate Point, take it slow and troll a line or two as you go. Then head north to Garden Island for a swim and/or circumnavigatory stroll around the island. This is a calm safe anchorage for the night.

Day 4 Destination - Gould Island
Explore Gould & Garden Island waters, fish for coral trout and other reef species or dive for lobster. There is always a calm beach on Gould Island.

Day 5 Destination - Return to Port Hinchinbrook
Hopefully with a little luck your Fishing Expedition was very successful. Time to return to Port.
